Macallan whiskey 30 year old price5/16/2023 ![]() The 1947 was a work of art and the best here, the 1955 was not far behind, the 1972, was much better than the last time I had and up a few points as was the 25 year which I have always had a downer on, tasting my last sample it was up 4 points higher and more enjoyable. Regarding the tasting the new 12 year was pretty much where i thought it would be at around 84 points but the older 12 year i was expecting it to be so much better but alas it wasn’t and bear in mind at auction you can pay over £700 for that one litre bottle. That sort of price tag is an insult to me and should be for anyone else who knows anything about what a good whisky tastes like, the sample I got cost a bomb but I really wanted it for the h2h. Their reputation of the older bottlings is well deserved as it tasted superb and ticked all the boxes of any whisky enthusiast but the more recent stuff is a pale, bland and at times pretty tasteless and bears no resemblance to the old stuff and then you have the premium stuff now like the 30 year that is £5000? Macallan OB X 7,1947 onwards 12-30 years + Crabbie 30 year ![]() It beats both the 25 year old and Oscuro for me. ![]() This was perhaps the highlight of my Macallan journey. I'm sorry I only have one sample.but I don't think I'd buy a bottle of it for almost €5000 anytime soon. These aged Macallans play very well at 43%.no need to be scared. The taste stayS in our mouths for long, minutes, or do I just imagine it? Oak and chocolate. It is very, very balanced, just like the 18- and 25-year-old "little brothers". Cherry and raspberry.maybe a little blackberry too. Milk chocolate, dates, figs and plum jam. Malt, very soft citrus aromas in the background. Beautiful oak scent.you can feel the 30 years. Knipschildt chocolate cake with whipped cream, cherries and raspberries. (By the way, the 12/15/18 Sherry Oak beats the Double Cask releases in every shape or form.) I finally got to the 30 year old Sherry Oak. Well, the 25-year-old is perfection itself, balance, complexity, feeling. One of the most balanced 18-year-old bottles I've ever tasted. The 15 year old? I'm a bit worried about its current price.and it's not the real deal either. But which one/which ones? Many people post that the 12-year-old Double Cask is available here and there, many ask if it is worth it? Not bad, but missable. The one you won’t be able to taste is the 1988 vintage that sold for a record-breaking $1.3 million at auction last spring, but these other bottles should fill that void.I love Macallan. There’s a 77-year-old single malt available, the coffee-inspired Harmony Collection came out last month and the even older 81-year-old The Reach can be purchased for $125,000 per bottle. If you miss out on this opportunity but still want to get ahold of some rare Macallan, fret not because the distillery has you covered. The offer will close on Sunday 12/11 at midday, and you will find out after that if you were one of the people allocated a bottle. To try to get one of your own, you can enter a lottery today at the Caskshare website. There are only 180 bottles available, each priced at £2,850 (or $3,900). The whisky in question was matured for 30 years in a first-fill sherry cask, and it will be bottled this coming May at a relatively high 51.5 percent ABV. “It’s really not often that a cask of such rarity comes up and we’re expecting it to be hugely sought-after by both connoisseurs and collectors.” “The Macallan is undoubtedly one of the most aspirational single malt whiskies, with a global reputation for quality and provenance,” said Caskshare’s managing director John Robertson in a statement. So this bottle might be one to hold onto. As we reported recently, in today’s bullish whisky investment market The Macallan continues to stand as one of the most valuable and popular.
